The Prestart process is such a crucial part of the home building process. We have found that clients who consider the following tips generally have the most successful outcomes and walk away from the day feeling happy with all of their choices. So, before you start, consider these helpful tips from our expert team:

1. Do Some Homework

Review our Selections Worksheets and Prestart Checklist located in the building folder you were given earlier in the pre-construction process. It is vital this is carried out well in advance of your Prestart meeting in case changes are required which effect other selections you may have made. Have a good understanding of the different products that we offer and what is included in your chosen specification. A little work before the big day makes for a lot of time saved.

2. Listen to the Experts

We have a very experienced team in our Prestart department and you can ask for their advice along the way. There isn't much they haven’t had experience with! We will always do our best to guide and advise you to create the best outcome for your new home.

3. Consider your Furniture Placement

One of the best pieces of advice we can give you is to think about where your furniture will go in your new home. Think about what existing pieces you will bring from your current home and what new furniture you will be purchasing. Consider the colour and texture and allow that to guide your decisions in the prestart meeting.

4. Don't Forget Electrical!

Of course, we will never let you forget this vital part of the Prestart. We do urge you to seriously consider the electrical needs for your new home. Think about lighting that you want now and may also want in the future. The same goes for power point placement. It is much easier to include these during construction than retro-fitting once you have moved in. Also remember the previous point about furniture. Think about where lamps, tables etc may go and work your power point placements around that. Also think about where electronic equipment will be located and power needs for all these appliances. Think about locations for things like Phone chargers, Televisions, Sound systems, Clock radios, Google appliances to name a few.

5. Visit our Display Homes

It is always great to see certain fixtures and fittings first hand, so take a tour of our display homes in person, or at least online and see how we have incorporated colours and textures to showcase a home. We have a team of interior designers who have been doing this for a very long time and make it their job to know what is in and what is out, so have a look around and take some inspiration from what we have done.

6. Must Have v Nice to Have

Every client is different and every budget is different. We think it is good advice to make a list of your must haves, those non-negotiables that you absolutely want in your new home and then make a list of the things that would be nice to have but are not essential. This will help to guide you during your pre-start meeting.

7. Relax

You’ve done your homework. To allow you to concentrate fully on the Prestart meeting we request no children are present. Now relax and let our prestart team guide you through the process and nothing will be missed. Allow yourself plenty of time so you won’t be rushed, and this will ensure you complete this very important and enjoyable part of the building process.
